Cougars Are Extraordinary Achievers!

That's our mantra! Here are some ways we acknowledge and celebrate the Bellair Cougars...

Every day one student is recognized as Bellair's Student of the Day
*The student is nominated by any staff member and acknowledged for demonstrating the pillars of character:  Trustworthiness ~ Respect ~ Responsibility ~ Fairness ~ Caring ~ Citizenship.  The student is announced at the morning assembly.  It truly is a TRRFCC way to honor those amazing students!

Students earn golden tickets ~ Cougar Pride tickets ~ for being respectful, responsible, and safe
*They place them in a bucket for our weekly drawing.  We also have drawings for "bigger" prizes several times throughout the year.  Staff members are also selected for prizes - if the student they gave the ticket to wins, they could win, too!  Sometimes a lucky staff member wins the "GOOSE" - that means "Get Out Of School Early" - how?  Well, Ms. Dettorre takes over for them so they can take the afternoon off.

Academic Awards Assemblies
*After each grading period (quarter) ends, we hold a special awards assembly to recognize students in grades 3-6 who have earned Honor Roll (A's & B's) or Principal's List (straight A's).  Parents are invited to attend these assemblies. Watch our calendar for dates and times.

  • Override Election in November

The Deer Valley Unified School District’s Governing Board unanimously approved to seek voter authorization of a 15% override. This election will take place on November 3, 2015 and will help preserve current fine arts and athletic programs such as art, general and instrumental music, and physical education, as well as maintain class sizes. The funds will also be used to attract and retain highly qualified teachers.

  • AzMERIT Update

The Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards (AZCCRS) for reading and math set higher expectations for students. This means that expectations for student achievement are higher than they used to be with the previous AIMS state assessment. As state officials have recently reported, it is likely that fewer students will score at the higher achievement levels on the AzMERIT assessment, especially the first few years.
