Rattler News

From our Principal Mrs. Dawn Pace

August 31st, 2015
Good Afternoon Rattlers Families,
This is Principal Pace with a few important announcements.  We need your help to ensure the safety of all students and their families during arrival and dismissal.  Please make sure you are not blocking an intersection or crosswalk while waiting in traffic. We are concerned for the safety of our students waiting to cross the street. Please do not block the entrance or exit of the bus lane.  You must stop your vehicle prior to reaching the exit of the bus lane while waiting in traffic to allow the buses to depart from school once they are loaded.   Our neighbors have asked that parents do not block their driveways while waiting for students.  Parents, we also need your assistance in getting your students to school on time.  School gates open at 8:30 AM and instruction begins at 8:45 AM.  Students should be in their classes by that time.  If your child is late, it is an expectation that parents report to the office with their student to sign them in.  School is dismissed at 3:30 PM and students must be picked up by 3:45 PM.
As part of our efforts to build a positive, collaborative culture and climate we will host Pastries with Principal Pace this Thursday from 9:00 AM - 9:30 AM in the administration building. Please stop by to share your ideas with Principal Pace.  Have a safe and happy week Rattlers!

  • Override Election in November

The Deer Valley Unified School District’s Governing Board unanimously approved to seek voter authorization of a 15% override. This election will take place on November 3, 2015 and will help preserve current fine arts and athletic programs such as art, general and instrumental music, and physical education, as well as maintain class sizes. The funds will also be used to attract and retain highly qualified teachers.

  • AzMERIT Update

The Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards (AZCCRS) for reading and math set higher expectations for students. This means that expectations for student achievement are higher than they used to be with the previous AIMS state assessment. As state officials have recently reported, it is likely that fewer students will score at the higher achievement levels on the AzMERIT assessment, especially the first few years.
