Get in Line for Extraordinary Educational Opportunities: Open Enrollment Available Now & Kindergarten Registration Open November 17

Open Enrollment for DVUSD, an “A” rated district for four consecutive years is now being accepted for the 2015-16 school year. Deer Valley families have the opportunity to select a school of their choice during this open enrollment time frame. The application process has gone fully digital and forms are only available online. Computers are available for use at the District office and at each school. Applications must be submitted by December 17, 2014. Applications received after this deadline may be granted if/when classroom space becomes avail

For families currently under open enrollment, you will not need to reapply for open enrollment to continue attending your school of choice. Your student will continue to be enrolled at their campus unless you withdraw to attend another school. If you choose to withdraw to attend another DVUSD school outside of your attendance boundary, please complete and submit an open enrollment application to attend the new school.

If your student is promoting to another school (e.g., promoting from a K-6 school to attend a middle school or promoting from a middle or K-8 school to attend a high school) you will need to complete and submit an open enrollment application to attend the new school if that school is outside of your attendance boundary.

Additional information regarding open enrollment can be found in our Open Enrollment section under Parents & Students. If you have any questions regarding open enrollment, please contact your school’s registrar.

For those of you beginning your journey with DVUSD, Free full day Kindergarten registration opens November 17. Stay tuned to dvusd.org for more details.

We are proud to be your choice for providing a positive educational environment for your student.

  • Letter to Parents regarding virus news (in the media)

Posted by Colleen McNamara at 10/16/2014

With the recent news reports regarding the Ebola virus and Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68), we felt it important that we share information with you as to how we’re currently working to keep students and staff safe. We have no cases of these viruses in DVUSD. However, our number one priority is the safety and health of each student and staff member in our District. We are working with the Maricopa County Department of Public Health to minimize the risk of exposure to our students and staff. All surfaces, classrooms and public spaces at all DVUSD campuses have been and will continue to be thoroughly cleaned.

First, some facts about these viruses as reported by the Maricopa County Department of Health Services and the Centers for Disease Control:

    Ebola Virus:

    • The Ebola virus is transmitted through direct contact with the blood or bodily fluids of an infected symptomatic person or through exposure to objects such as needles that have been contaminated with infected secretions.

    • The Ebola virus is not a respiratory disease like the flu, so it is not transmitted through the air. Individuals who are not symptomatic are not contagious. In order for the virus to be transmitted, an individual would have to have direct contact with an individual who is experiencing symptoms.

    • Symptoms of the Ebola virus include; fever, headache, joint and muscle aches, weakness, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, lack of appetite, and unexplained bleeding or bruising. Symptoms may appear anywhere from 2-21 days after exposure, though 8-10 days is most common.
