Welcome to what promises to be an amazing 2016-2017 school year at Desert Sky Middle School!

I am excited to see meet all of our new and returning Thunderbolts in August! We are excited about the progress our students made last year with the dedication of our staff, our students taking ownership of their learning, and the support of our parents and community members. We know that this year promises to be filled with even more extraordinary opportunities for all of our students to reach their full academic and personal potential through rigorous and relevant teaching as well as innovative programs designed to allow students to play an active role in their learning. Our faculty and staff will continue to encourage all students to set high goals for themselves.

The Thunderbolt community has a long standing reputation of excellence, which includes being recognized as a National School of Excellence by the US Department of Education and selected twice as an A+ School of Excellence in Arizona. We will continue our pursuit of excellence to ensure your student is prepared for future endeavors.

We are committed to:

  • Creating meaningful relationships and a community of kindness.
  • Teaching and learning are standards based, rigorous and relevant.
  • Demonstrating transfer of learning to new situations and disciplines.
  • Increasing student achievement through collaborative continuous improvement.

So to that end our staff of highly qualified professional educators and support personnel will provide our students many opportunities --- both inside and outside of the classroom --- for high caliber and quality learning, continual growth, leadership opportunities, and achieving at a high level of excellence!  We encourage each student to become involved in our school through academics, clubs and activities, performing arts groups, and athletic teams and events.

We extend a special, yearlong invitation to our parents to join us at school activities and events whenever you can.  Your involvement, partnership, and support are greatly appreciated during the school year as we look to build and maintain our programs. We value your involvement and support in your student’s education!  It is key to the success of your young Thunderbolt during his/her middle school years.

Again, we welcome you to Desert Sky and to our wonderful professional learning community . . . a place alive with much energy, enthusiasm, and a high standard of excellence!

Please feel free to call 602-467-6500, email me or stop by if you have any questions.  I look forward to working with you and your student.

Thank you for entrusting us with the opportunity to educate your student. GO THUNDERBOLTS!
