Greetings Mountain Lion Community,
Welcome to the 2015-16 academic year!
When looking at Mountain Ridge High School, it is difficult to believe that this year marks our 20th birthday. Over the past twenty years, we have consistently valued high quality teaching and learning; this year is no exception. In fact, this year we are keeping pace with national and international technological developments in offering our students educational experiences that are more authentic, relevant, and technologically connected. Our 1:1 technology initiative puts iPads into the hands of all 2322 students enrolled in our classes. This is indeed an opportunity for all of us to further explore our digital world and personalize our students’ learning experiences. We are very excited for this opportunity!
In addition to our Technology Rich Initiative, we are increasing our course offerings and providing students with more choices. We strongly believe that high school is the perfect time for students to explore possible career opportunities by taking Career and Technical Education courses; therefore, this year we offer more Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment courses than ever. There are so many ways for all our students to take academic risks, try and explore various elective offerings, and be involved in our school. Our website is an excellent communication tool for parents and students. There, you can find up-to-date information about events and stay informed and involved in your student’s education. In addition, consider enrolling in the daily announcement email to receive a list of all announcements delivered to your student each day.
As we embark on our twenty-first year of excellence, we will honor past traditions while making new ones. A long-standing tradition at Mountain Ridge has been our focus on community. Your involvement in our school and in your student’s education is what truly sets us apart from other schools. I look forward to not only upholding this tradition but, also to increasing our community involvement this year. We are very proud of the reality that here, there is an opportunity for everyone to be involved; this includes students, parents, and members of the community.
We are all excited for the 2015-16 school year. Together, we can ensure that this will be our best year yet.
Here’s to a great year together!
