Gina Etzel, firstname.lastname@example.org, has been teaching English Language Arts in the Deer Valley Unified School District for the last five years. This is her second year at Vista Peak School and she previously taught at Barry Goldwater High School. She received her Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education with an extended major in English Literature from Northern Arizona University. Ms. Etzel grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and has been living in Arizona for the last eleven years

Cindy Garraway, email@example.com, received her M.A. in Education from Barat College of DePaul University and a B.A. in Speech Communication from the University of Illinois. She began teaching high school in 2002 and joined the faculty at Sandra Day O’Connor High School in 2008 teaching ELA and dual enrollment Communications. Mrs. Garraway also is an adjunct faculty member for Rio Salado College teaching COM 100. She was recognized by Rio Salado College in 2016 as being an Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member and in 2015 received Deer Valley Unified School District’s Teacher of the Year.

Katie Harkema, firstname.lastname@example.org, graduated magna cum laude from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelors degree in Secondary English Education. She began teaching in 2005, and has taught ELA 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8, as well as Creative Writing and Communications. She has also taught 7th and 8th grade summer school,as well as summer school for Deer Valley High School.

Alison McGowan, email@example.com, graduated magna cum laude from California State University, Fresno with degrees in Anthropology and Mass Communications & Journalism, and received her Master's degree from San Francisco State University in Humanities: Museum Science. She worked at the Phoenix Zoo and the Arizona Humane Society before she began teaching Language Arts in 2003 at Deer Valley High School, where she is now the Language Arts co-chair. She holds a certification in Secondary Language Arts and has taught LA 3-4, LA 3-4 CR, LA 5-6, LA 7-8, and Public Speaking.

Shawn Towner, firstname.lastname@example.org, studied English and Cinema Studies at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. After moving to Arizona, he worked at Desert Sage elementary school as a custodian while earning a Masters in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University. In 2008, he began teaching English Language Arts at Boulder Creek High School. While at Boulder Creek, Mr. Towner has taught LA 1-2, LA 1-2H, LA 3-4, AP Lit, Cinema Studies, and Creative Writing. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in English Education at Arizona State University. In his free time, Mr. Towner enjoys reading and watching movies.

Andrea Wallach, email@example.com, graduated from ASU in 1989 and has been teaching Language Arts to middle and high school students ever since. Her vast experience includes teaching 7th and 8th grade Language Arts, Title 1 reading, 8th grade Social Studies, 9th, 10th and 11th grade Language Arts and 10th grade honors Language Arts. She has been teaching Language Arts for the Deer Valley Online Learning Program since 2008.
