Cougar News

From Our Principal

  • Jackie Dettorre

School is officially under way, and we are glad to have everyone back! We also welcome all of our families who are new to Bellair!

We are so excited to get the new school year started.  We are embracing the concept of the Hawaiian word: Ohana, which means family.  We have always felt that all of us make up the Bellair family.  We want to embrace that even more.  No matter what, everyone is part of the Bellair ohana!

Also new this year, we are planning to offer free after school clubs to all our students.  The staff is working out the details, so there is more information to come.  In addition to staff running the clubs, we would love to have volunteers from the community help us out, too.  Let us know if you are interested.

Teachers and students are hard at work teaching and learning a rigorous curriculum. I am proud of our staff and students and appreciate their dedication to our mission: High levels of learning for ALL!

Staff recognize students daily.  This year we will identify the "Cougar Kid of the Day" at our daily morning assembly.  Each month, the whole school participates in the "Cougar Call Out" pep assembly where "Cougar Kids" are treated like VIPs as staff and students have some fun with school spirit and "minute to win it" games.  "Cougar Kids" are students who demonstrate their Cougar PAWS: Practice Respect ~ Act Responsibly ~ Work Together ~ Stay Safe.

*We are always looking for new business partnerships and for community members to join our CIT (Campus Improvement Team). Please contact the school for more information. You may also email the principal: jackie.dettorre@dvusd.org
