Dear parents and students,

I am Hongmin Yu. I will be teaching 5th grade students Math, Science and Mandarin in the 22-23 academic school year.

I was a high school teacher teaching Chinese language and literature for 23 years at a school with a great reputation near the Shanghai area in China. I have three years of Chinese teaching experience with elementary, middle, and high school students in Ohio & Texas.

I received my bachelor's degree with a major in Chinese linguistics & literature from Zhejiang Normal University. I have two Master's degrees: one is Elementary Education in Literacy from the University of Akron. Another is Curriculum and Instruction: PreK-12 Education in the Chinese Language from The Cleveland State University.

I hold an Ohio 5 years Professional Multi-Age (p-12) Chinese & TESOL License; Arizona Standard Professional Teacher Certificate; North Carolina Professional Educator's License; Certificate of Senior Professional Teaching License in China. I took ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) & the ACTFL Writing Proficiency Test (WPT) in 2017 and 2020. In both years, my Mandarin Speaking and Writing score levels are superior.

My husband and I all like reading, hiking, and traveling. We have a son, and three of us all love cooking and enjoy time with the dog and cat.

I am looking forward to getting to know our wonderful students, and to having a fantastic year full of learning!
