Welcome!

  • Welcome to 7th Grade ELA!

This year, we are going to be reading, writing, and learning all kinds of wonderful things! Each quarter covers several essential learning standards and many supporting standards.

I look forward to working together in supporting our Titans as they grow academically, creatively, and personally.

  • Looking Ahead:

Quarter 3 will cover a mix of Non-Fiction and Literature. As we look at blending fact and fiction, students will engage in dialogue about how we, as readers, interact with the information that is presented to us.

A letter will be sent to you regarding a change in the reading list. As I get to know our 7th Grade Titans, I learn their interests and their needs. Given this, I have chosen a new novel study, which will better support our students in their efforts to master the standards of the quarter.

The Advanced ELA course will be reading The Outsiders (S.E. Hinton), which is a lodestone of modern American Literary culture.

The General Education classes will still be reading The Martian Chronicles (Ray Bradbury)

Links to appropriate editions are below, if you choose to purchase a copy for your student to take home and annotate.
