We, the SAGE Students of Copper Creek Elementary School, challenge ourselves to excel in learning by thinking differently, digging deeper and using our best effort to go beyond expectations as we stretch our brains in different directions.
  • Welcome to the Copper Creek SAGE Website.  SAGE is a  content replacement math at ELA (Language Arts) for 3rd-6th grade identified gifted students.  The program is designed to allow gifted students to rise to high levels of thinking and skills as they explore concepts in unique and "out of the box" ways.  Make sure you check out the blog below for weekly updates including project and assessment dates.

All classes will be utilizing Google Classroom and Google applications.  I recommend that students download the following apps on any mobile devices they use (all are free):  Google Classroom, Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google Sheets (used for reading logs).  All students have a district monitored google account tht should be used for all school related activities.

  • Sorry for late blog

Oops sorry for the late blog:

    This week in ELA Reading:

3/4 are exploring elements of literature using The 3 Little pigs.  We will be getting into fractured versions.  We will also be writing repsonse paragraphs (this is a work in progress so I do not expect perfection).  The main new idea is Theme.

5/6 we are continuing exploring the Poetry of Poe and are currently wrapping up Eldorado.  We are analyzing for poetic elements, Theme, mood/tone, and gaining the meaning of the poem.  Students are responding with short paragraphs that will lead to a literary analysis.

This week in math - Full steam ahead.

3rd grade is exploring large whole numbers including reading, writing, rounding, place value and Adding/Subtracting with regrouping.  This friday will be the mid module 1 assessment.

4th grade is exploring large decimals including reading, writing, rounding, place value, powers of 10 multiplication/division and Adding/Subtracting with regrouping.  This friday will be the mid module 1 assessment.

5th grade unit 1 is all about area.  This includes triangle and paralleoegrams.  Mid unit assessment Friday

6th grade is continuing with ratios and exploring proportional relationships (unit 2).  Assessment over the beginningo of the unit friday.
