Message From Mrs. Schubert
Dear Mustang Families,
We are entering the final stretch of the school year and we know that it is going to be an exciting spring for our students and staff! West Wing will be honored as an A+ School of Excellence at the DVUSD Governing Board Meeting on Tuesday, March 22 at 6:30 pm. We hope that you can tune in here. We are looking forward to our A+ School of Excellence Celebration Assembly on April 22 at 9:00 am. We will gather together as a school to honor this prestigious award and we invite our families and community members to join us for this exciting event!
We want to recognize and thank all of our students, families, and our PTSA Executive Board for planning and organizing our recent Penny War Fundraiser. Together we raised over $7,000 to support our teachers as well as campus improvements and special projects. This was such a fun competition between the grade levels and will help us to honor teachers during teacher appreciation week May 2-6 this year!
We recently had our All Things EQ Parent Webinar which is available on our website if you would like to learn more about our character program.
We continue to seek crossing guards to assist with before and after school at the crosswalks. If you are a stay-at-home parent or grandparent we would love to have you help with this very important role on our campus. Please call our office at 623-376-5004 if you are interested! We also have volunteer opportunities to help with the immediate need for crossing guards. One person can make a huge difference by giving just 40 minutes of their time to assist us. If you can consider helping even one time you will make a big impact! Please check the Mustang Bulletin for the most current sign-up genius here.
We are also busy preparing for our state assessment to begin, Arizona’s Academic Standards Assessment (AASA), formerly known as AzMerit the month of April. Parents can access online sample tests to review with their children here. Scroll to the bottom and click on Sample Tests. Teachers and students have been working hard all year to prepare and we are confident that all of our students will do an amazing job demonstrating their academic growth this year. Parents can also find our testing schedule on our website here.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Shelly Schubert
Principal
