Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Lori Brookins
I really enjoy teaching Career Action Labs. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to explore medically related careers at all levels.
I had been teaching science at Hillcrest since 2003 and before that I taught two years of high school biology, chemistry and physical science. Previously I had a career as a Senior Research Technologist that involved cancer research of the respiratory system. I developed protocols, built large systems using computers, gas chromatographs, respiratory monitors, and high vacuum technology. I also developed and used molecular biology techniques.
I was nominated and awarded DVEA Teacher of the Year in 2008. I have high expectations and work diligently to prepare students for the rigors of high school courses. I enjoy making connections through analogies of science content to real world applications. I enjoy relating both funny and serious stories that assist students to remember the material.
