Thank you to all of our parents that sent items in for our fall celebration or volunteered their time to help out. It was a great success and the kids had a blast.
We are still going strong on our Fun Run Fundraiser. Kindergarten is in first place with grade level donations. Keep up the good work. Our special areas teachers are so thankful for the support of their programs.
Boo-grams are being sold this week. Information and the boo-grams were sent home last week. For $1 your child can purchase a Boo Candy Gram for a friend. Tomorrow is picture day! Order forms were sent home last week. Be sure to come with your best kindergarten smile. Next week is parent/teacher conference week. We will have half days on Thursday and Friday with a dismissal time of 12:05. If you haven't signed up for a conference time please visit your classroom teacher's signup genius page to select a time that works for you. This is a great opportunity to see how your child has been performing this quarter. Next week is also the Scholastic Book Fair. Stop by the bookfair after your conference and support our school library. Watch for information to come home soon regarding our fall party at the end of this month.

This week we are wrapping up our three week study of literature on bears. We have focused on Brown Bear, Brown Bear, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Corduroy. During our readings we have been learning about the story elements of character, setting and main idea. To celebrate the end of our bear unit we will be having a Teddy Bear picnic tomorrow. Please have your child bring his/her favorite teddy bear (or other stuffed animal if they don't have a teddy bear) and small snack for our picnic.
Next week we will have our first school wide spirit week fundraiser. We ask that your child bring at least $1.00 throughout the week if they participate. If you feel like donating a $1.00 every day, that is awesome, but by no means expected. Any and all donations are graciously accepted

This week begins our three week unit on bears. We will be focusing on three different bear stories: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, The Three Bears, and Corduroy. During this first week we will be wearing a different color to school each day to celebrate colors. Students will also be bringing in a small disposable colored item to match the color of the day. We will use these items to make color posters for our rooms. Items will not be returned. Please help your child wear the following colors on the following days.
Monday - yellow
Tuesday - red
Wednesday - blue
Thursday - green
Friday - purple
We have officially introduced the letters m, t, s, a, and p and their corresponding sounds, as well as our first two "star words", I and am. Please help your child to practice learning these, as it is best if they learn them as we go along instead of trying to catch up. A little review and practice at home each day will help them learn the letters, sounds, and words quickly. The letters and words we are working on are listed on the weekly homework sheet.

We are off to a great start! We are all getting to know each other and the students are learning the routines and procedures of kindergarten. Please remember to check your child's homework folder nightly and sign your initials to acknowledge that you have seen their clip color for the day and that they have completed their homework. Remember homework does not need to be returned unless specifically asked for. We would also like to request that you label all backpacks, lunchboxes, and water bottles. We have several that look alike. Also, please continue to send their transportation tags back for this week to be sure we have all learned where everyone should be at the end of the day. If you have a change in end of the day transportation, it must be in writing. Finally, if you have not returned all of the beginning of the year paperwork that was sent home that first day, please do so ASAP. Thank you!
