     Welcome to K-8 Spanish!
    Mission Statement for World Languages

The Mission of the World Languages programs in the Deer Valley Unified School District is to provide extraordinary language and cultural opportunities and to create world class, fully articulated World Languages curriculum which will enhance the future success of students in a global and technologically advanced society.

K-6 Spanish Specials class: Starting this year, not all students will have Spanish class in their Specials rotation (Please refer to the schedule section of this website to see if your child will). Students in K-6th Grade will learn basic vocabulary and sentence structures typically used in conversations related to specific themes. Also, they will be introduced to different cultural pieces that are relevant to the students or the content, in order to inspire them not just to learn the language, but also, to learn about the people and traditions of the hispanic community. This year's theme is "Mi mundo" (My world). Please check out my website's Quarterly Newsletters, Assignments, and Spanish resources sections, for more details.
7-8 Elective Spanish Class: Students in 7th and 8th grade will be able to take Spanish as an elective and will receive High School Credit for Spanish 1-2 H. These courses  follow the High School Curriculum, Grading, and Guidelines set forth in the Academic Planning Guide. Grades earned in Spanish 1-2 will be calculated into the student's High School GPA.
