    Course Overview

    Hello and welcome to IB MYP Visual Arts at Norterra Canyon! My name is Mr. Snedden and I am very excited to have you in my class! We will be exploring the Elements and Principles of Art and Design through history, aesthetics, criticism, and (of course) production. We will take risks, ask questions, and celebrate our diversity! All assignments and feedback for our class will be available on Canvas however final grades are posted to PowerSchool where grades are officially stored.

Check here if you miss class to know your expectations before you return.  Grades will be reported via PowerSchool. Official grades for assignments can be found here. Keep an eye out for missing assignment flags as well. For the fastest response, use email for communication. Students must use their student email (student@learner.dvusd.org) for appropriate communication.

    Supplies Needed

    For this class you will need the following supplies. It is a requirement that you bring them to every meeting in order to participate.

    Required
    1” 3-Ring Binder
    Drawing Pencils (HB, 4B or 6B, 2H or 4H)
    Pencil Sharpener
    Colored Pencils (more colors are better)
    White or Pink Pencil Eraser

    These extra supplies below are recommended for further enrichment but are not required. They can be useful to work on art at home but will be supplied while in class.

    Optional
    18” Ruler
    Drawing Pencils (6B, 4B, 2B, HB, 2H, 4H, 6H)
    Fine and Ultra-Fine Sharpies
    Oil and/or Chalk Pastels
    Watercolor Paints with Brush(es)
    Mixed Media Art Pad

    The required supplies can be obtained from any art store like Michaels or online at Blick Art and Amazon. If there are any supplies that you are unable to purchase for any reason, please contact Mr. Snedden at brian.snedden@dvusd.org.


    Please remember that any percentages in PowerSchool are not indicators of current levels of achievement.
    Please check the number grade (out of 4) for current levels of achievement prior to the release of quarterly report cards.
