Phone: 623-445-5002Julie received her Bachelors Degree from Grand Canyon University in Elementary Education and Special Education. She’s lived in Deer Valley Unified School District since 2003 with her husband of 17 years, Brian. Together they have 5 kids, ages 5-25, who have all attended or are currently attending DVUSD schools. Julie taught briefly in the classroom and has since built a successful small business in the wedding and event industry, co-founded the non-profit Parties for Purpose and works as a community advocate to bring positive change to North Phoenix. In 2016 she worked to ensure the Maricopa Re-entry Center remained a secure facility and successfully lobbied to help pass legislation that strengthened the community notification laws. Most recently she worked with the Norterra Community and the City of Phoenix to advocate for Phoenix Fire Station 55, currently being built at I-17 and Jomax. Julie also serves on the North Gateway Village Planning Committee and was previously appointed to the Joint Legislative Ad-Hoc Committee to Study Statewide Juvenile Justice and the Governor’s Opioid Task Force. She is also an active member in the PTSA at her children’s school and helps run their youth lacrosse club. Julie believes the way to create stronger and safer communities is by investing in the heart of the community, the neighborhood district school, and intends to do just that as a Governing Board Member.
