Degrees and Certifications:
Chef Mattheis is a classically trained chef with several years of experience in the food service industry. Upon graduating Barry Goldwater High School, Chef Mattheis went on to study at Le Cordon Bleu of Scottsdale. While at Le Cordon Bleu, Chef Mattheis spent many hours volunteering his time in various restaurant and resort settings in order to gain experience while earning an education. After culinary school, Chef Mattheis went on to work in resorts and restaurants around the valley as well as co-owned a catering company. Eventually Chef Mattheis found his way back to Barry Goldwater High School to proudly educate the next generation of chefs. Chef Mattheis is dedicated to creating a top notch and innovative program with as many oppurtunities as possible. He has seen many students move on to a successful career in food service and graduate with scholarships to some of the top culinary schools in the country.
Chef Mattheis currently teaches Beginning Culinary Arts, Advanced Culinary Arts and Restaurant and Dining Room Management as well as oversees Barry Goldwater's full service high end restaurant, Avenue 27.
