DISCIPLINE is simple. We work hard as a class to make the classroom a positive and safe place for all. We have three basic rules that cover all situations in our classroom:
1. No one has the right to interfere with the learning, safety, or well-being of others.
2. Do what is expected and do it the best that you can.
3. Treat others the way that you want to be treated.
We monitor students behavior on a Classroom Clip Chart. Students all begin in the middle of the chart every morning. They can move their clip up for making good choices (and earn fun rewards!!) and move their clips down for making poor choices. The students who end their days at the top of the chart are rewarded with HLS Bear Bucks and reward cards. Students who move their clips down will have consequences chosen by me based on the situation. Parents will be contacted if a student moves his/her clip down to red. Every student's behavior will be marked on their calendar in their homework folders. Students who move their clips down to orange or red must have their parents initial their calendars. Please make sure to check your child's homework folder every night. Please see the First Grade handbook that was sent home for more information.
