Degrees and Certifications:

Hylari Villamar

I was born and raised in the suburbs near Cleveland, OH. I moved to Phoenix, AZ to attend ASU. I graduated ASU with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with a Mathematics Specialist and Highly Qualified in Middle School Math.  This is my 14th year teaching middle school Math.  I started teaching middle school Math in the Scottsdale Unified School District, at Supai Middle School (3 years), then Ingleside Middle School (2 years), followed by Deer Valley Unified School District at Norterra Canyon K-8 school(4 years), and now at Sonoran Foothills (4 years). It's so much fun to work with the siblings and cousins of former students and stay in touch with the amazing families I have met throughout the years. I love teaching Math and seeing the "Ah-ha" moments in class when students make connections and truly understand.

When I am not at school, I am busy spending time with my family. My husband and I have 3 kids: Lilyanah who is 5 years old, Rafael who is 2 years old, and a newborn (born 6/2019) named Jax. We also live with my 2 dogs named Romey(Mini Golden Doodle), and Bentley(Bischone). My extended family is very close and a big part of our lives as well. We have weekly family dinners with my grandparents, parents, aunt and uncle. We enjoy spending time outside at the park, splash pads and walking the dogs when the weather is cooler. Other things that make me happy in life include going to Zumba (Dance fitness workout), playing cards/board games, cooking family dinners, watching reality TV, and going on road trips/traveling. I also tutor high school Math students throughout the week after school. It's neat to see how much 7th grade Math material I see first hand in the high school Math courses. Life is busy and hectic, but purposeful and fun.
