Hello!  My name is Shelly Coco, and I'm so excited to have the opportunity to teach 5th grade math to your child this year!  Each and every child in my classroom is extremely important to me and deserves the chance to pursue the attainment of his/her potential.  This is my twenty-fifth year teaching in DVUSD.  I spent twenty-one years at Park Meadows teaching in a  4th grade self-contained classroom, and the past three years teaching 5th grade math here at Highland Lakes.  My primary expectations for each student are to do his/her personal best, to be respectful, responsible, and safe at all times. I believe all students can learn when they are provided an environment that is conducive to learning.

I have been married for twenty-nine years to my amazing husband, Chris, and together we have been blessed with two daughters.  Our oldest, Alex, graduated from Sandra Day O'Conner High School in 2013, and went on to earn her Associates Degree in Science and Arts.  She also graduated from the GCC/ASU CEP nursing program with an additional Associates Degree in Nursing and her Bachelors of Science in Nursing.  Our youngest, Sam, graduated from Willow Canyon High School in 2021, and is currently attending GCC.  We also have a twelve-year-old beagle-mix named Bella. 

I just know we're going to have an amazing year!  :)
