Welcome Back Leopard Families!
My name is Christina Salazar and this is my fifth year as part of the student support team here at Legend Springs. This year I will be working with 4th and 5th grade!
I am beginning my 10th year as an educator. I have spent all of my years supporting students with various disabilities, first in the Alhambra School District and now here in Deer Valley. My primary role has been spent in the learning center/resource style setting, so joining Legend Springs and participating more in the inclusive model has been an amazing learning experience. I am a believer in the system and enjoy interacting with all students. Each year I learn something new and am always amazed by what students can do if we teach to their skills.
I am a born and raised Arizona native and can't imagine living anywhere else. I love the sun and our calm winters. I attended elementary school in the Washington School District and completed high school in the Glendale Union High School District where I was in Student Council and other activties all four years. I received my bachelor's degree from Arizona State University, specifically with a dual certificate in elementary education and special education in 2009. I am a Sun Devil through and through, always Go Devils!
Personally, my husband and I have been married for over 8 years, and he is also an Arizona native. Our family also consists of 5 individually fantastic children; Samantha is 7, a second grader here at Legend Springs, Michael will be 6 towards the end of 2018 and is also a Leopard in kindergarten. Number 3 is JJ and he will be 3 in the spring. The youngest of our crowd is Anthony, who was born in November of 2017. Last, but not least, we also have a kiddo heading off to college as we are the guardians of my 18 year old brother, Justin. He is headed to his first year at NAU! While he is not going to be a sun devil, at least he picked the next best university in our great state. We are very proud of his accomplishments and are anxious to see what he does as the first one to leave the nest.
To say we are a busy family is definitely an understatment. We also have two dogs, Vegas and Diego, along with two tortoises, Rose and Raphael. Our family can be found spending our free time together with our extended family doing whatever sounds good at the moment. We love to travel, go to the beach, and enjoy movies and family activities.
Again, welcome back, I am anxious to see how much growth we all make this year!
Enjoy the year and I look forward to working with everyone, students and parents alike!
