Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Amy Vlasity
Hello, my name is Amy Vlasity and I am the Instructional Coach for Desert Sky Middle School!
This is my 24th year in education. I have taught various grades throughout the years. I have taught kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 4th and art (yes, but only one year of art!) . I earned my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood from ASU West in 1996. A fun fact about my student teaching is I was one of thirteen students chosen from ASU to participate in a Student Exchange Program with the University of Brighton. In 1996, I spent 14 weeks Student Teaching in Burgess Hill, UK. I student taught year 4/5 (which is 3rd and 4th grade) at St. Wilfrid's Catholic School. It was an amazing adventure- and I still go back to visit as much as I can! My mentor teacher, Fran Hallifax, taught me a great deal about teaching and classroom management! When I returned, I graduated and started teaching the next school year. I earned my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from NAU in 2006. I have an Early Childhood Endorsement as well as a Reading Specialist Endorsement on my teaching certificate. I earned my second Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from NAU in December 2018. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three kids, Olivia, William and Adam. We love to travel and do fun things! We love to spend time at the beach and our cabin!
