Ms. Rodi

Welcome to our new class!! My name is Laura Rodi, and I am so excited to be your child's teacher

I grew up in New Orleans, LA and went to college at American University in Washington, D.C. where I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice. I went on to attend Rio Salado College here in AZ where I earned my degree in Elementary Education. I ahve my endorsements in both early childhood Education and SEI, and I just completed my Master's in Educational Psychology! This is my 8th year teaching First Grade!!! I have taught first at Mirage Elementary, and I am thrilled to teach here at Highland Lakes! I am the mother of three wonderful boys: Michael (17), Anthony (15) and Nicholas (12). My oldest two are in high school, and my youngest is still with me here at Highland Lakes.

My favorite activities are spending time with my boys, running, being with friends, reading psychology books, and teaching!

In my opinion, first grade is the best grade to teach! The students are so excited to learn and so open to new ideas. The amount of growth that takes place this year is truly amazing, and I feel so lucky to lead them on this journey. Being your child's teacher is a dream come true for me, so please let me know if there is anything that I can do to make this year better for you and/or your child. I promise to treat them with the utmost care, respect and understanding. I realize the importance of the position I hold in their lives, and I will do everything in my power to help them reach their full potential. My goal this year is to help your child love school while developing into a strong reader, writer, and mathematician.

In order for your child to succeed, we must maintain a strong partnership. This includes an open line of communication. If you ever need to contact me, please do not hesitate to call or email me. I can only check my emails or messages before school, during lunch and prep, and after school. Therefore, if there is ever an emergency during school hours, and you need to reach me or your child immediately, please call the office at (623) 376-4300. Otherwise, my email is laura.rodi@dvusd.org, and my phone number is (623) 376-4334.

This is going to be such an amazing year!!! I thank you for your support. Most of all, I thank you for entrusting me with your beautiful child.

Sincerely,
Laura Heeb
