    2.  Reminder:  we will be viewing Finding Forrester this week and going through the steps of writing successful essay exams (reminder, no final essay exam for this, Folks!)  There WILL be an additional assignment IF you miss any of the viewing days.
    3.  Make sure you are putting together your Multimedia Presentation for Monday, 3/11!  All instructions are posted (and we went over these in detail last Wednesday)! MM Planning Sheet is also due this day!  Also, view posted adding a video clip to your iMovie if you need instructions/help. We also viewed two sample MM Presentations; see me if you would like to view these during Aca Prep.

    3.  We reviewed yesterday's viewing of Finding Forrester:  What does “Window” ask Jamal to do (watch the language!)? Does he? Why?  What news does the principal/Mr. Simon share with Jamal & his mother?  What else does Mr. Bradley/Mailor-Callow discuss with Jamal?  Who shows Jamal around Mailor-Callow Private School in Manhattan?   Who is the author of the required reading in Mr. Crawford’s class?     
    4.  We completed Step 2 on Writing Successful Essay Exams posted in Canvas.  Choose the 3 main ideas out of the 10 topics from Step 1, and type these next to each subject for Step 2.  As you view the movie, type in 3 examples of each subject (9 examples total) that support each subject.  Example:  Subject/Topic/Theme/Idea: Opportunity (Step 1)  3 examples from the movie Jamal’s entrance to Mailor, Jamal’s acceptance as a writer/winning contest, Jamal’s basketball career (Step 2).  You will have an additional assignment if you missed a day of viewing (see Mrs. Bondi if you miss more than one day!).

    2.  Access posted Rhetorical Devices Definitions and Practice slide show in Canvas - Writing as Communication module.  Take notes on the definitions and at least one example of each of these rhetorical devices (you may create your own examples if you wish).  Keep these notes!  Also, on the back of these notes, please freewrite possible topics for your Writing as Communication essay.  Keep this paper!  Again, see slide show for all instructions.
    3.  Tomorrow/Tuesday during class you will complete the practice (1-7 - slide 17 provides instructions).  You will also complete the Parallelism Practice using your iPad tomorrow during class (show your final screen to receive points). All information is in the above slide show.
    4. Access TEDTalks Day 1 slide show in Canvas - Writing as Communication module.  Click on the URL to view the TEDTalk "What Adults can Learn from Kids" and enter information in each box (#1) on the handout TEDTalks Analysis handout/form.  We will view a second TEDTalk on Wednesday, and you will fill in boxes #2.

    1. We reviewed all of the Rhetorical Devices we have been studying:  anaphora, hypophora, allusion, eponym, epizeuxis, exemplum, epanalepsis, & parallelism.  Make sure you know these!
    2.  Access TED Talk Day 2 slide show in Canvas - Writing as Communication module.  View Tim Urban's "Inside the Mind of a Master Procrastinator" via YouTube (click on picture in slide show to access OR search title in YouTube) and fill in the #2 boxes on the TED Talks Analysis handout from Monday.  Show Mrs. Bondi your filled in boxes on this handout for points when you return to class. +10
    3.  Access WAC Day 1 slide show in Canvas - Writing as Communication module.  Go through this slide show, and pick out rhetorical devices and message in Mrs. Sparks' essay.
    4.  Ask Mrs. Bondi for a quote when you return to class.  You will write your quote on Monday's freewriting, and write your first and last name next to your period/class on the actual quote card (see Mrs. Bondi regarding all of this when you return to class).
