Substitute Teacher Information
Due to Prop 206 requirements, we are pleased to announce our partnership with Educational Services, Inc. (ESI). All interested substitute applicants will be employed and paid through ESI. Interested applicants need to apply online.
We value Deer Valley’s substitute teachers who play a vital role in our students’ academic success and achievement. We utilize a significant amount of substitutes each year and expect adherence to the same high standards and expectations as our regular classroom teachers. Substitute teachers contribute a great deal to the children of our community.
There is a daily need for high quality substitute teachers in Deer Valley. An Automated Substitute Calling System and website are used to request substitutes and make the assignments. Substitutes are trained on the automated system prior to accepting their first job. Substitutes are paid $105.00.00 per day, and $52.50 for half day. Long term positions are paid $105.00 per day for the first 20 days, and then increased to the daily rate of $130.00 on the 21st consecutive day.
For further information you may contact Kelly Lancaster, DVUSD Substitute Coordinator by email or 623-445-5061. Questions regarding obtaining a substitute certificate can be directed to Arizona Department of Education at 602-542-4367.
DVUSD is proud of the required full-day orientation for all new substitutes. This orientation covers:
- DVUSD Substitute Policies and Procedures
- The Substitute Handbook
- Automated Calling System
