The AZELLA, published by Pearson, is the current English language test adopted by the state of Arizona. The name stands for Arizona English Language Learner Assessment. It measures a student's English proficiency in 4 areas: Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening.
The AZELLA placement test is given to students new to Arizona schools who have a language other than English on their registration paperwork.
The AZELLA reassessment test is given to EL students in spring each year. Results of the reassessment should be available and sent home by the end of the school year.
