Mr. Schnee

Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Schnee

I am excited to be teaching at Gavilan Peak as part of the Middle School team teaching Algebra 1-2 and Math. This is going to be my fifth year at Gavilan Peak and my sixth year in the Deer Valley Unified School District, but the start of my 19th year in teaching. I began teaching at Excelencia School, in the Creighton School District in 2001 in a fifth grade classroom. I was a fifth grade teacher for four years before I moved into being the Technology Literacy Teacher and Technology Coach. I have been a technology mentor as well as a technology coach and travel to teach other teachers about good teaching strategies to help them help their students. I have my bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University and I have two masters degrees, one is a Master of Education in Counseling and the second is a Master in Educational Leadership, which I finished in 2011 from Northern Arizona University. I am also a certified school Principal and help Mr. Segersten and Mrs. Ware in the front office as a behavior specialist. I'm also Gavilan Peak's 504 Accomodations Coordinator for those who I get to work with who have a disability.

Before I began teaching I was studying Electrical Engineering at Arizona State University which allowed me to have success in a lot of math and science courses. This helped me to get my Science and Math Endorsements as a teacher as well. I decided teaching was what I really good at and I wanted to help others learn. I have two of my own children, my son is a Junior in High School, my daughter is in the eighth grade as well. I have a loving and caring wife who is also an educator of 20 years. I am the Scoutmaster for my son's Boy Scout Troop 513 in Phoenix and I also do programming and computer work on the side when I'm not camping, which I love to do.
I'm looking forward to a great year and getting to know all of my wonderful students. We use the Remind service as a tool to communicate more efficiently along with emails and announcements on my website. If you are not signed up to get the text messages from Remind, please look on the front page on how to sign up.
