Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome! My name is Taylor Gillotti and I am very excited to be your child's teacher this year. This year marks my fifth year teaching at Diamond Canyon and my fifth year teaching ever! I was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa and I graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in reading and language arts and a minor in spanish. I was also provided the opportunity to travel and live in Barcelona, Spain for 5 months in which I was able to travel throughout Europe and Africa with a total of 2 continents and 8 countries visited! After graduation I decided to take the 1,400 mile trek from Des Moines, Iowa to Phoenix, Arizona to begin my teaching career. While I absolutely love and enjoyed growing up in Iowa, I couldn't stand another winter not feeling my toes, shoveling many feet of snow and a constant runny nose so I decided enough was enough and packed up my car to move to the state that is full of sunshine. When i'm not lounging by the pool or cheering on my hawkeyes, I enjoy going on hikes, reading a good book, hanging out with friends and playing with my french bulldog Roscoe. This year is also a special year for me as I will be getting married in October! My new last name will be Mrs. Waller.
Every student that I come across is not only unique in themselves but also unique in the ways that they learn. My job is not only to be responsible for providing the information that they need to know, but to provide it in a way in which all learners can interpret it. The one constant that always remains the same throughout each school day and lesson plan is that every student has the ability to learn. In my beliefs the grander purpose of education is guiding and developing chidren to develop their passions, critical thinking and wisdom for their future. It becomes the teacher's role to make that purpose presentable and to only have the highest expectations for each and every one of my students. Every day students will have the opportunity to make and meet their goals in a positive and effective environment. This is where it becomes important for myself to create a safe environment that allows for optimal learning of all types of students.
I believe communication is a valuable asset to your child's education, which is why I encourage open communication with parents. Working together will make this a great year for learning!
