Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Jarod Fizz
This is my fifth year teaching (fourth in sixth grade). I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a dual-certification in general and special education. I chose to get dual-certified because I believe it is absolutely imperative that educators teaching in a constantly evolving and wonderfully diverse population possess the comprehensive knowledge, self-efficacy, flexibility, and emotional intelligence to better meet the needs of each individual student. I will work incredibly hard to ensure EVERY student that walks through my classroom door will have the best opportunity to learn and be successful - both personally and academically - no matter the circumstance. In addition to the teaching profession and parenting my three spectacular children, I am also an amateur astronomer. I have gathered, studied, and utilized data collected over long periods of time in benefit of better undertanding the Sun, sunspots, and many aspects of the Moon - including the geography, movement, lunar phases, and much more! I also have a passion for nature and exploration! I spend a lot of time immersing myself in the deserts of northern and eastern Arizona, studying the geological and ecological components this wonderful state has to offer. It is my overall goal to ensure that each student leaves my class confident and prepared for the future as a productive and impactful member of society. However, it is my personal goal to foster each student's love of life-long learning through the integration of real-life application and the exploration of unusual and fascinating topics about the world and Universe beyond.
