Happy New Year and welcome back!

As we start second semester we have so many things to look forward to, as well as many things to celebrate from last semester.  Be sure to check out the pictures and captions from our grade levels and special areas recapping learning and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) from last semester.  Thank you to all who came out for two of our favorite events- the Veterans Day Flagpole and the annual Turkey Trot & Toy Drive.  The Veterans Day Flagpole ceremony brought our community together as we honored those who have sacrificed and served.  Thank you to PTA for sponsoring the breakfast, and to our staff and students who honored veterans with songs, poems, pictures, and thank you cards.  We also had a great turnout for our annual Turkey Trot & Toy Drive. We donated an entire truck-load of toys to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and had a great morning trotting along Arrowhead Loop with so many families.

Following Thanksgiving break, we had several visitors and events to kick off December! We were honored to welcome Fox News Channel 10 Cory McCloskey to our campus on Wednesday, December 4th for an impromptu flagpole.  We showcased our STEM lab, All Things EQ student line, flag football, Battle of the Books, 3rd grade 30 Book Challenge, and our Honor Chorus!  The entire school then joined in to greet Cory and showcase the variety of ways we engage students in academics and collaboration on our campus.

The following week our entire campus participated in the Hour of Code during the Computer Science for Education week in December.  This is just one of the many ways we engage students in integrated tech education across all grade levels.  Students will continue to practice their coding skills K-6 throughout second semester in both STEM and their general education classes.  We also celebrated the arts with the Winter Band and Chorus Concert.  Great job performers for your hard work!

Looking forward, we have many important events coming up this semester as well.  We are launching our major second semester fundraiser, the Apex Leadership Company second annual fun run.  We thank you in advance for supporting the fundraising and leadership program, launching mid-January!  We also have spring parent-teacher conferences coming up mid-February.  These are often student-led and a time to really see the growth from the year.  Be sure to sign up or drop on by. Following AzMERIT testing in April, we will host our annual STEAM Night on Earth Day!  More information will be coming out on all our upcoming events.  Stay connected with us through Twitter @legendsprings and Facebook, as well as through teacher newsletters and school eblasts.

Thank you for supporting our Legend-ary school!
