Ms. Natasha Gieber

Hello!  My name is Natasha Gieber, and I am the 5th grade ELA teacher for Canyon Springs' STEM academy. I am so happy to be able to have the privilege of working with you and your child this year!

I began my career in education in 1993 as a first grade teacher.  I have my bachelor's degree from Ottawa University, my Masters with Reading Endorsement from NAU, and I carry a full gifted endorsement, am SEI certified. I am entering into my 24th year as an Arizona educator.  I have taught Kindergarten through 4th grades, and I have worked as a Title I Programs and reading specialist for grades K - 6.  I have had the privilege of working with students from varying ability, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds, all of whom have contributed to the many skills and strategies that I will be able to share with your child this 2018-19 school year.

My philosophy regarding learning is that I am never too old to learn new tricks!  I love gaining knowledge about how the brain works, different learning styles and personality styles, and how to make learning more engaging and challenging for all ability levels I teach.

I believe every child has gifts, some of which are opened early and others which take time to cultivate and bring to full fruition. Because of these beliefs, I use many different strategies and multiple intelligence tools to get information across to my students.  I want them to have every opportunity to learn, love learning and to be successful.

In our classroom, we adopt the mantra "There are no excuses for failure, only reasons to succeed!"  This means, we learn to be flexible through challenges and mistakes, and we learn to fail forward.  It isn't through the easy times we gain the most knowledge, it is through the GRIT we gain in the struggles we overcome. That is also where true confidence and perseverance take place. As the great philosopher Confucius said, "Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall." Thank you in advance for being a part of encouraging our youth forward as they work to be their very best at Canyon Springs STEM School.
