Mrs. Lisa Byers
My name is Lisa Byers and I am so excited to be a part of the New River Family.
I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. I moved to Arizona when I was 15. I graduated from ASU with a bachelors and masters degree in Elementary Education. I started my teaching career in 2000. My teaching career began in the Dysart School District teaching 2nd grade. In 2005 I joined the Deer Valley School District. This will be my 18th year teaching in DVUSD. I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade, and this will be my 4th year as a reading specialist.
My husband Brandon and I have been happily married for over 19 years. I am the proud mother of two wonderful children; Madison and Ryan. My son will be a 10th grader at Deer Valley High School and my daugther will be starting her second year of college.
My family and I love spending quality time together ......mostly just enjoying each others company. During the summer we travel to visit family and spend a lot of time at the lake. Sometimes the whole crew will go on a vacation to see new sites.
One of my favorite things to do with my free time is read. I am an avid book reader so I spend a lot of time reading over the summer and during the school year (when I have time). I continually strive to help my students become the best readers they can be and to develop their own love of reading.
I am really looking forward to working with your children this school year. I believe that with your support this will be a very successful year.
*Coke Zero is my favorite drink
*Jack Skellington and Nightmare Before Christmas memorabilia are my favorite collectibles.
*My family and I like eating at Chick Fil A, Texas Roadhouse, Chili's, and Olive Gardens.
*Hot Tamales, Red Vines, and chocolate covered almonds are my favorite sweet snacks.
*On the healthier side....I like pistachios, protein bars, sunflower seeds, and granola bars.
