I am very excited to begin my fourth year at West Wing as a Physical Education teacher and the Girl's Softball Coach! My goal as a physical educator is to introduce and expand upon as many different activites and movement styles to your children as time allows. My goal is for students to grow and expand their movement concept knowledge through their time here at West Wing and leave here with lifelong movement knowledge.
Grades K-3 will focus on locomotor and nonlocomotor movements, teamwork, beginning game play, solo and group exploration, nutrition, and personal responsibility.
Grades 4-8 will expand on the movement concepts learned in previous grades, and will begin to introduce those skills into small sided game play, eventually working their way into full sided game play. There will always be an emphasis on fair play, teamwork, and positive communication. During every unit in class, students can expect to begin with skill revisitation and development, strategies for gameplay, and will finish with gameplay, either small team, full team, and/or tournament style.
My goal is to provide a space for the students to learn in a safe, welcoming, physical environment. Additionally, by introducing as many activities as possible, which will range from traditional sports such as flag football and basketball, to lifelong activities such as an introduction to golf, archery (7th and 8th only) cornhole, pickleball and Kan-Jam, my hope is your student will find activities they really enjoy participating in!
I do prefer and can typically respond faster to e-mail communication but will also do my best to return phone calls as quickly as possible.
The best time to reach me is between 8:00-8:30 before school and 3:30-3:45 after school. If you contact me after 3:45 pm, I will typically respond first thing in the morning.
