    Last week, we learned some more about some of our national symbols.
    We also began to learn about some of the things that can be seen in our night sky, such as the stars, planets and the moon.

English Language Arts

    This week in Language Arts... 
    This week we will read the expository text "Who Works Here?"  Our comprehension focus will be on author's purpose.  Our sight words for this week are live, out, people, who and work.  In phonics, we will focus on the 'or' sound and begin to study r-controlled syllables.  In writing, we will write our final copy about the Veterans' Day assembly using transition words and adding details and begin writing a factual letter using text evidence to support our facts.

  • Balanced Equations

    This week in math, we will continue to work on word problems.  We will also review equivalent expressions, for example 6+3=2+7, true or false?  We will begin to learn about place value by realizing that 16 is the same as 1 ten and 6 ones.
