Degrees and Certifications:
I am Ms. Igo and I moved to Arizona 3 years ago so excited to begin my 4th year teaching at Terramar!
I was born in New Hampshire and grew up in Massachusetts (Yes, I am an annoying New England Sports Fan). I went to school at Clark University in Worcester, MA where I studied English and Psychology. I then received my Masters of Arts in Teaching in 2015 while also student-teaching 7th and 8th grade. I began my teaching career in Hudson, MA teaching 5th grade English. Looking for a change (and a break from the snow), I moved to Arizona last summer and went back to 8th grade! I enjoy reading, traveling, being active by playing tennis or doing yoga.
In the classroom I believe we are not only developing good students but good citizens as well so my goal is to get the students high school ready with not only academics but with life skills as well. My teaching philosophy is to create a supportive, student centered classroom where the students can make connections that are engaging, inspiring, relevant. My goal is to expose the students to different forms of reading and writing so that they are able to identify what sparks their interest. I firmly believe there are different aspects of English that speaks to every student and I intend to help them find it. I love bringing a positive mindset wherever I am and hope the students find their own interest and passion within the subject of Language arts.
Overall I am looking forward to a wonderful 2019-2020 school year!
