Sierra Verde's Chief Science Officers


    Arizona SciTech has partnered with middle and high schools across the state to create the nation’s first Chief Science Officers program.  Chief Science Officers are elected at schools across the state to serve as ambassadors for science education.  Throughout the year, Chief Science Officers and their advisors will work together to plan, promote, and improve STEM events and projects on their campus.  In addition, these students will serve as a collective voice as part of a statewide cabinet focused on connecting with Arizona businesses and community leaders.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Attend Chief Science Officer Retreat at Grand Canyon University

    • Attend Chief Science Officer Cabinet Meetings (Fall and Spring)

    • Attend all scheduled Chief Science Officer campus meetings

    • Assist in the planning and implementation of school STEM events

      • Assemblies

      • Guest Speakers

      • STEM Night

    • Assist with the communication of campus STEM events

      • School You Tube Channel

      • School Website

      • Morning announcement

      • Slides for TV announcements

    • Serve as STEM ambassador

      • Present to community partners, PTSO, School Board, and school administration

    • Assist in fundraising to support STEM activities
