  • Student Government is an organization conducted by students and supervised by adults. The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects.  Student leaders should have the following qualities to be successful in Student Government:

    • Confidence
    • Humility
    • Resilience
    • Better time management
    • Communication skills
    • A sense of structure

Leaders apply in March for the next school year. There is a four part process to apply and include and interview, mock event or fundraiser, teacher evaluation and student votes.  Student Government is also a club so hours are expected after school for dances, games, events and organizing/planning.  Incoming freshman can apply the first week of school.  Student Government class is 4th hour and students are required to participate in most events and at least two community service projects. If you are interested in Student Government, please come by Room 518.

The goals of BGHS Student Government are to provide students with an environment in which they can actively problem solve. To provide students with the opportunity to learn and practice the democratic process. To provide students with the opportunity to learn and practice leadership skills. To improve communication between students and staff.

Being involved in leadership activities to grow, Student Government Leaders get the opportunity to participate in the State Leadership Conference as well as the Disney Leadership Conference.  These events play a very important roll in learning what type of leader each student is and how they can contribute their strengths to the students and staff.
