Meet Mrs. Gustafson
Degrees and Certifications:
I am writing to welcome you and your student to my learning center. I am thrilled to be working here at Park Meadows. This will be my 5th year teaching but my first year as a Park Meadows Scorpion! I am super excited to be working with you and your child to ensure a successful and memorable year.
I would like to take this time to introduce myself. I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary and Special Education. I have taught in general education and special education classrooms for grades 2nd through 8th grade. In addition to teaching, I was also an instructional assistant in a self-contained multiple disabilities classroom. This summer was a busy one! I spent the majority of the summer helping my dad run and operate a Papa Murphy's store in Scottsdale while he took over a second store in Maricopa! In addition to helping out my dad, I have been anxiously planning away this coming school year. Needless to say I am so ready to start the school year and seeing all my student's smiling faces.
My philosophy for teaching is to provide a welcoming and loving learning environment. This will allow students to feel comfortable to share their ideas and step out of their box. I believe by ensuring this type of environment, my students will show magnificent progress!
This year we will focus on increasing our skills in various subjects including learning different techniques and strategies to help regulate and maintain our emotional state so that we may become the most successful adults possible. My goal this year is to create a community of learners where we set goals and work together as a team to ensure we are all successful. With that, I believe that communication between home, school, and student is crucial in meeting the goals we set forth this year. I hope that you will communicate with me regularly by phone, email, or in person, as I look to you as a partner in your child's educational success. In addition to our communication, I will also keep in close contact with your child’s homeroom teacher to ensure that we are meeting their needs in all settings.
I look forward to building a relationship with you and your student throughout this school year and thus providing the best education that we are capable of giving. Thank you so much for sharing your child with me. If you need to contact me, please feel free to leave me a voicemail at _____ or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
