- Writes a personal experience narrative that shows why the experience is important to the writer
- Writes an imaginative story that centers around a distinct character
- Writes a report that details events in proper sequence
- Considers audience, purpose and format in writing forms of communication and poetry
- Uses concrete descriptive words, commas in a simple series, and "a" and "an" correctly
- Writes using cursive handwriting
- Edits writing for spelling
- Reads and comprehends imaginative story, personal narrative, report, communication and poetry
- Continues to expand phonetic skills
- Structurally analyzes prefixes, suffixes and abbreviations
