Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Leslie Schramm
Welcome to Biology!
I am originally from Arizona (I know, one of the few people born here!) I received my undergraduate degree in the biological sciences from ASU (Go Devils) and my Master’s degree from NAU. (Go Lumberjacks!) My area of research was in the ability of Gila monsters to regulate their body temperatures once they were moved from their home-range after a human encounter. I’d be happy to share my thesis (“Thermoregulation in translocate Heloderma suspectum after urban conflicts” if you are interested!) :)
After finishing college, I worked in a laboratory setting through ASU to find out how Artic fishes do not suffer from brain tissue degeneration while in sub-zero temperatures. Although I love all aspects of the laboratory, I wanted to share my passion for the life sciences and so went back to school and was post-baccalaureate to earn my educational credentials.
At home, my engineering husband and I both love all things science and in the 15+ years of marriage have managed to help the other in areas of science not each other’s forte! I teach him about microbes and the cool life science stuff and he grounds me with the physical sciences!
I’m excited to get to know you and find out what motivated you to take extra challenges in your high school career! I’m also looking forward to these classes, and I hope you are too! Welcome Aboard!
