We will focus on the Engage New York ELA curriculum for sixth grade, as well as the district-adopted curriculum, Harcourt

We will be using Discovering Our Past for Social Studies.

Writing: We are working on Close Reading, and RACER paragraphs.

Reading: We continue to work on Story Devices (cliffhanger, flashback, foreshadowing, and  suspense) in our interactive student notebooks.  Students just finished reading Bud, Not Buddy and are analyzing myths.

Social Studies: Students are collaboratively working to creating a Google Slide presentation showing what they have learned about Ancient Rome.

Homework:  Students should be reading 70 pages a week.  We go to the library every two weeks and students can go on passes.

    Important Dates:

    3/14 Color Run

    3/18-3/22 Spring Break

    Rules/Procedures

When you are absent, it is your responsibility to ask for assignments.

If you would like to retake a test or rewrite an essay, you must let me know within 2 days of receiving your grade.  We will then make a plan on how we can work together to make sure you are given every opportunity to show me your best work.

STUDENTS MUST HAVE A COMPLETED STUDY GUIDE TO RETAKE A COMPREHENSION TEST, AND NOTECARDS TO RETAKE A VOCABULARY QUIZ.

I am here to help you, so please always feel free to ask me any questions or come to me with any concerns.

I do expect all of my students to follow the school rules as outlined in the District Handbook.  We will go over these rules the first day of school.
