“The mind, without imagination would be as useless as an observatory without a telescope.”
Fred Van Amburgh
Welcome! My name is Olivia Clark and I grew up here in Phoenix, Arizona. I graduated from Northern Arizona University where I completed a Bachelors of Science in Education with Endorsements in K-12 Art and Structured English Immersion. This year I will be teaching K-8 Art at Stetson Hills during the 2020-2021 school year. This will be my fourth year teaching art at Deer Valley USD but my second year at Stetson Hills. I look forward to a colorful year here at Stetson Hills!
My philosophy as an art educator is to instill a sense of curiosity about art and the world to encourage the development of life-long learners. I encourage my student’s acceptance of cultural differences, multiple perspectives, as well as expression of their own individuality and creativity. I teach students to focus on the process and less on the final product. Fine arts teaches students skills such as problem solving, creative thinking, communication, collaboration, self-direction, risk-taking, and reflection. I believe that art education is not a measurement of talent, but the educative means used to enhance a student’s imaginative and creative intelligence.
