The mission of Barry Goldwater High School is to educate all students. Staff, family, and community will empower all students to achieve personal, social, and academic essential skills. We, the Goldwater High School Community, accept this responsibility.

 Dr. Andersen

Dr. Michael Andersen has been the Principal at Barry Goldwater High School since 2006. He served as an Assistant Principal in all areas of administration from 1993 until 2006. Prior to being an Assistant Principal, Dr. Andersen served as the band director at BGHS from 1989 until 1993. During his tenure as the Principal, Dr. Andersen has led the school through the development of the current vision, mission, ideals and beliefs, and exit outcomes that drive all facets of the school. Unique and innovative programs have been implemented including; The Senior Institute, Student Advisory, Standards Based Grading, and the prestigious International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP). Recognitions for contributions to the school and district include; A+ School of Excellence, “Gold Level” Beat the Odds School, BGHS produced the first Rhodes Scholar for DVUSD, DVUSD Pride Award, DVUSD Administrator of the year, and the Rodel Exemplary Principal Award. Dr. Andersen has been an educator since 1976. His assistant is Brenda Moore.

 Sutton, Brittany

Brittany Sutton has been BGHS teacher since 2001, earning a DVUSD Teacher of the Year award in 2008. Beginning her teaching career in English Language Arts, she later became the BGHS Theatre Director and Fine Arts Department Coordinator until May 2014. She is also a proud BGHS alumni. Her assistant is Amy Rice.

 Brian Jacobs

Brian Jacobs has been an administrator in the Deer Valley district since 2001 and has worked in Athletics, Curriculum, Attendance and Discipline at Mountain Ridge and Sandra Day O’Connor High Schools. His assistant is Judy Lukaszewski.

Mark Gorman
Mark Gorman is in his second year as assistant principal at Barry Goldwater High School.  In addition, he is in charge of athletic programs within the school.  He has twenty years of experience as a teacher, coach and administrator from outside the Deer Valley School District within Arizona and Colorado.  His assistant is Joyce Cooley.
