Degrees and Certifications:
BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis Education and Reading
This is my second year teaching at Copper Creek Elementary. I have received my Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Education and Reading from Dallas Baptist University.
Teaching does not just end or begin in the classroom. Students teach themselves new things every day, from new lingo to new things to do on their phones or computers to new observations. As a teacher I am required by the state to cover certain subject and things about each. However, I want to go beyond that because I want to teach my students not only what they need but also things that want to know about. I will encourage my students to ask questions whether it is because they do not understand or if they just want to know more. Students will want to come to class each day ready to gain more knowledge about things they do and do not know. They will learn that even they themselves can teach each others through projects and even in conversation. I do not want all the teaching to be me but I want my students to be able to teach others what they know to widen their views.
One of the most important things has a teacher has to be the way we manage our classrooms. If we walk into a classroom with no plan the kids will know and chaos will be ensured. I believe that when students come into the classroom they have a clear understanding of what your expectations and rules are. I also am a firm believer that you should not strain from this expectation or rules. Students in my classroom will know that I have rules in place not just to have them but to ensure their safety and create an environment for learning. They will be rules that not only will benefit me in that the students will know what I expect but will help them because there will be less time wasted.
I have loved working here at Copper Creek. It is evidnet that teachers spend many hours working to crete engaging lesson plans and create safe classroom enviroments. I love that I am able to connect with parents to help struggling students. Teachers here are always looking for ways to better their craft and help out their studnets.
