My name is Nancy Perkins and I will be your child’s teacher as he/she begins this new year of learning! I’ve always enjoyed working with the youngest students and I'm super excited to be teaching kindergarten at Copper Creek Elementary!
I’d like to share a little bit about myself: I was born in Long Beach, California (a reeeeally long time ago). My dad was in the Navy so we were fortunate to be able to move around the United States. I have lived in California, Wisconsin, Florida, Virginia, and Kansas, settling in Arizona (in the Desert Hills area) in 1973.
My husband and I have been married for forty years, we have four awesomechildren, eight adorable grandchildren, and a sweet Pit-bull mix named Ellie.
I began teaching preschool in 1994, and a spark was lit that led me to pursue a degree in elementary education. I am a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in Early Childhood Education and Structured English Immersion. This is my twenty-first year of teaching. I've taught preschool, first and third grades, and this is my sixth year in kindergarten.
I have had many opportunities to work with children of all ages, and pursued a degree in education hoping that I, like many wonderful teachers who enriched my life, can make a difference in the life of a child. My main objective for our “Pack” is to create a sense of community where each child feels safe and happy in an environment that fosters growth socially, emotionally, and academically. Learning is fun and I want to cultivate curiosity in each student so that they become lifelong learners.
I am so excited for school to begin and to meet all my new “pack members!” There is a wonderful year of growth and learning ahead, and I can’t wait to get started!
