I grew up in Phoenix and earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from NAU. I headed straight to Tucson to study Educational Psychology at UofA. There, I fell in love with being a student and decided to do that professionally (probably for far too long!). I ended up with Masters degrees in both Educational Psychology and Counseling. I loved UofA and Tucson, so when my husband got a job back in Phoenix, I was reluctant to leave. However, I found my home at Mountain Ridge and have spent my entire career as a School Counselor here. That career has been put on hold through the years as I have been blessed with the honor of raising three beautiful children. They, along with my two dogs, fill my heart and keep me on my toes. Even with time away to care for children, I always found my way back to Ridge where I feel incredibly grateful to work among such a competent, caring and supportive faculty. Moreover, the students I encounter here are a tremendous source of awe and inspiration for me. Their depth, compassion and ingenuity leave me with great optimism for the future. I consider it a privilege to be in the position I am, in a school and community that I love.

As a native of Arizona, I have enjoyed the warm weather, great hiking trails, and the most amazing sunsets of the Sonoran desert. I received my Master’s degree in 2000 from Ottawa University and got married the same year to my wonderful husband. Since 2004, I have enjoyed working for the Deer Valley School District, especially the last 8 years here at Mountain Ridge. I am so happy to be here and enjoy working with the amazing students at Mountain Ridge! Their perseverance and enthusiasm to learn is so inspiring, go Mountain Lions! When I am not at work, my husband and I enjoy spending time caring for our mini farm. It’s a true mini farm that includes 2 mini dogs (Welsh Corgi’s), 4 mini goats (Nigerian Dwarf Dairy goats), and 7 mini chickens (variety of Bantam chickens). Our mini farm may be small on size but their hearts are huge and give countless hours of laughter and joy! Looking forward to another awesome year!

I grew up in Glendale, AZ attending Ironwood HS where I participated in the Marching Band for 3 years. Go Flutes! I got my Undergraduate degree from Northern Arizona University in Elementary Education and proceeded to teach middle school math for the next 9 years. While teaching I worked on my School Counseling Master's degree through Capella University. For a brief 4 years, I lived in north Dallas, TX but came home to Glendale to start my career as a high school counselor at Mountain Ridge! I love working as a school counselor helping students figure out a path for their future. A good weekend involves snuggling under a fluffy blanket to read or watch movies.

I moved to Arizona in July of 2003 from Northern Colorado. I could see the heat coming off the asphalt but powered through and started my first job as a second grade teacher in the Glendale School District at Melvin E. Sine Elementary.  Although Arizona has become my home, I will always be a Colorado girl at heart. I have experience teaching Kindergarten, 2nd and 6th grade as well as 7th and 8th grade PE and Health. I took a brief break from teaching for 3 years to stay home with my children and to finish my Master's degree in Counseling from Northern Arizona University. I have been a counselor at Mt. Ridge High School for 9 wonderful years. It has been an amazing experience and such a pleasure to work with such talented and driven students. In my spare time, I lenjoy spending time with my 3 children and 2 dogs and exploring all the great things Arizona has to offer. I love our Mt. Ridge community and co-workers and feel to priviliged to work here.

I am happy to be in my fourth year as a counselor at Mountain Ridge High School. I moved to Arizona from Rockford, Illinois four years ago, and I cannot believe how amazing the winters are here. I attended graduate school at Northern Illinois University and completed my Master's degree in School Counseling. Before moving to AZ, I worked in therapeutic recreation at a park district and worked in a high school counseling office. In my free time, I enjoy running, hiking, and playing sand volleyball. I love running in the most random races I can find. I have enjoyed exploring AZ, and I have a never ending bucket list of things I want to do. Mountain Ridge is an amazing school, and I am happy to be here.

I am excited to be starting my second year at Mountain Ridge High School! I am a native of Arizona I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. I earned my undergraduate degree in Education from Arizona State University. I continued my education and completed my Master’s degree in Counseling and Human Relations from Northern Arizona University. Before working at Mountain Ridge I was a special education teacher for 10 years. I have experience in K-5 and high school cross categorical. I have worked in the public and charter school systems and enjoyed both of them for different reasons. When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my 3 children and husband in the outdoors. I look forward to meeting with students to achieve their goals as well as working through any social or academic problems they might have.
