• My name is Ms. Blair and I’m thrilled to be your child’s fifth grade teacher.

Fifth grade is an exciting year when students are continuing to build upon their foundational skills and develop more independence as learners. You are strongly encouraged to remain an active participant in your child’s education. Students are learning to advocate for themselves at this age, but having parents who are involved will help to support this process. I value an open and understanding line of communication with parents. My goal is to create an online learning environment where all students feel inspired, supported, and encouraged to continue to develop as lifelong learners.

    Some Tips for Success:

    • Communication: Reach out if you have questions for concerns. I welcome the opportunity to assist any any way possible. Please allow for one school day to respond to your emails, as I am supporting students throughout the day. Emails received outside of school hours will be responded to the following school day. My email address is: Jacalyn.Blair@dvusd.org

    • Canvas: Canvas is our online learning management system where all content area lessons and learning tasks are housed. Students will submit all completed assignments through Canvas for feedback/grading. Students access Canvas through the DVUSD Start Page.

    • The DVUSD Start Page is also where students can access PowerSchools (for grades), HMH Ed, Dreambox, SAM, SchoolCity, Panorama and Clever.

    • Zoom: Students may access our class Zoom link in each subject area of Canvas by clicking the “Resources” tab. You will then see the “Zoom Meetings” button. It is the same link for every subject. Zoom will be used for all synchronous learning, as well as meetings and small group instruction.
