• Our Classroom Behavior Plan

    I believe in building a community of respectful learners. Classroom and school rules must be followed in order to protect the rights of every student to learn and enjoy school and there will be much instruction, modeling and practicing to help your child be successful. My plan is designed to help children gain more personal control (self-discipline) in a positive, nurturing environment where intrinsic rewards (I feel good about myself!) is the ultimate goal, and responsibility for their own behavior is the expectation. Please discuss these expectations with your child to reinforce the positive behaviors desired.      “The 5 P’s”

    PROMPT: Be on time and follow directions quickly quickly.                                                                   

    PREPARED: Be ready for the day and think ahead.                                                                                         

    PRODUCTIVE: Use your time wisely and show urgency.                                                                               

    POLITE: Be kind and think before your speak or act.                                                                                       

    POSITIVE: Believe you can and keep going even when it’s hard.

    We use a Behavior Expectations Scale in the classroom to help guide us in making the best choices every day. Please look for these numbers daily in your child’s purple folder in order to stay connected with your child’s classroom behavior.

    We will be using our Bloomz app to track classroom behavior, which you may check daily on your student's timeline. Students are awarded positive points when STARS qualities are observed and negative points if warnings and/or time outs have been given. Our students will earn a virtual reward for reaching the target of 25 points and you will receive a private message whenever that happens. Whenever our students receive 4 virtual rewards (100 points), they will receive trip to the prize box!


    ~ 1st time a rule is broken = Warning                                                                                                           

    ~ 2nd time the same rule is broken = Final Warning                                                                                       

    ~ 3rd time the same rule is broken = Cool Down 5 minutes

    *During Time-Out students will be guided in these steps: 

    1. Calm their emotions

    2. Reflect on their misbehavior

    3. Feel remorseful

    4. Accept responsibility                                                                                                                 

    ~ 4th time the same rule is broken = Cool Down 10 minutes plus Reflection Sheet  

    *If your child receives a Reflection Sheet, please use this as a tool to discuss the infraction. Present positive behaviors, help him/her set some personal goals, role play appropriate behaviors, and sign and return the sheet the following school day.  Referring back to STARS is a great way to improve in many areas! Children will learn that it is their CHOICE to change and to be responsible for their decisions.

    ~ 5th time the same rule is broken = Buddy Classroom 5 minutes                                                                     

    ~ 6th time the same rule is broken = Buddy Classroom 10 minutes plus Parent Phone Call and Lunch Detention

    *If your child earns 2-3 Reflection Sheets for repeated behaviors, there will be an office referral and I will contact you to discuss how we can work together to change the behavior(s). My goals is to always have the child in class as much as possible and restore the relationship with teachers and classmates.
