Welcome 7th graders!

Ms. Katherine Cadigan Payne

Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Katherine Cadigan Payne

My name is Ms. Payne! Don't let the Cadigan part fool you, to save students from mumbling through the mouthful that is "Cadigan Payne" I just go by Ms. Payne.

This year I will teach 7th grade English Language Arts, as well as Computer Applications. I am a first year teacher looking to make a positive impact not only on the lovely students I am privileged to teach each day, but also within the larger Diamond Canyon community.

If my life was one of the handy plot diagrams students will come to know and love within my class room, my "exposition" would take place in the first eight years of my life when my family was living in Flagstaff, Arizona. After those eight years, my "rising action" made life much more interesting. My family moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, which is where I consider my home to truly be. I grew up in an idyllic log cabin with a panoramic view of the Alaska Range, I spent weekends playing soccer and camping, and drove my beat-up Jeep Wrangler to school at -60 degrees below zero. Personally, I believe I am still in my "rising action" stage because life keeps getting better. I recently received my Bachelors of Science in Education emphasizing in Secondary English Education from Northern Arizona University, and began my Masters in English this summer at Middlebury College in Vermont. I have settled in the Phoenix area with my fiancé and our lazy old cat, and have been trying my best to adapt to the "dry heat".

I have always dreamed of being a teacher, and I feel so fortunate that this years 7th grade class will be my first group of students. Please feel free to email me at the address listed below and my classroom phone number will be added to this page shortly.
