Ms. Ashley Anthony
My name is Ashley Anthony and I'm a third-year teacher and a graduate of Northern Arizona University! I graduated with a degree in Music Education with an Emphasis in Choral Education. In 2019, I received the honor of DVUSD's Rookie Teacher of the Year award and created our school's musical theater program. At our school, I connect with and educate the majority of students, teaching general music to kindergarten through third grade, chorus and handbells to fourth through sixth grade, and after school classes like piano and musical theater after school. It is my joy to help create a community at Esperanza through musicianship, performance, and human connection.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my kitten and puppy, exploring Phoenix with my partner, and listening to podcasts. I also love Harry Potter! Along wtih being experience in teaching music, I am also a trauma-informed teacher and have a passion for our Title I community. At school, you'll see me at morning duty in front of the school, probably with a Starbucks in hand, definitely with a music-themed lanyard. Even though we are online for now, I am so excited to reconnect with the students I've known for years and to see some new faces as well! Other than teaching at Esperanza, I teach at the Phoenix Girls Chorus once a week in the evenings, pioneering the Prima class of kindergarteners and first graders. Growing up, I was a singer at PGC so it has been a wonderful honor to return now as an educator.
