Welcome to the Aacademy of Hospitality and Tourism at Deer Valley High School (AOHT)

The travel and tourism industry is one of the world’s largest industries with a global economic contribution (direct, indirect and induced) of over 7.6 trillion U.S. dollars in 2016, according to Statista. The industry had the highest job openings rate in May, at 4.9 percent, followed by professional and business services at 4.8 percent.

As part of the National Academy Foundation program, students embark on a career focused journey and exploration of the Hospitlality and Tourism industry and reflect on the substantial contributions the industry has on our local and global economy. Our Academy includes an industry recognized Certification opportunity embedded within the Career and Technical Education, CTE, course offerings. named The NAFTrack Certification. 

Your gateway into this academy is through the Hospitality Management and Professional Sales and Marketing programs offered on the Deer Valley campus. There are other options to gain NAFTrack certification with Project Lead the Way courses, as well as Dual Enrollment progress at Deer Valley High School.  Course Sequence Brochure

The Academy of Hospitlaity and Tourism (AOHT) covers the principles of Hospitality & Tourism, customer service, geography, hospitality marketing, sports and entertainment, event planning, and sustainable tourism. Academies may include state-level certifications, special projects, or early college programs. The AOHT curriculum has received industry validation from the Global Travel and Tourism Partnership. Academy students complete at least four NAF courses by graduation. We offer computer curriculum using the National Academy Foundation and competitions with DECA within the Business and Marketing strand.
